Budget Friendly Bathroom Makeover Part 3

One of the cheapest ways to really elevate a space in any room, in any home, is an accent wall. With a little money, you can invest in prefab panels, lumber, paint, and wallpaper and make a huge impact. For this smaller hallway bathroom, we decided on vertical shiplap. Here’s how we did it.

First, we repaired the drywall in the space using spackling and a putty knife. Once dry, we sanded it all smooth and cleaned it. Next up came paint in the colors Drift of Mist for the wall and Extra White for the trim, both by Sherwin Williams. Here’s a look at the during repairs/before paint and the paint colors we used.

We picked up a panel of this prefab shiplap from our local Home Depot. It measures 48×96 and can be hung in either horizontal or vertical fashion. Since this bathroom is a little on the smaller side, we opted to hang it vertically to add height and to also give it more of a cottage/French country vibe as opposed to farmhouse. It’s super easy to use and install. Simply cut to fit, apply liquid nails to the back, then nail into place over your studs (mark those first) using the amazing Ryobi Airstrike nailer.

Once hung, we added a rail along the top to dress it up a bit. We filled small nail holes with our spackling and putty knife, sanded smooth, and then painted.

Lastly, we added these super modern matte hooks from Home Depot to act as our towel racks.

What do you think? Do you love it?
