Budget Friendly Bathroom Makeover Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of my blog post on a budget friendly bathroom makeover. You can find part 1 here where we discussed painting the existing bathroom cabinets to update them.

For part 2, I thought we’d discuss wall paint. The bathroom walls legit had the worst drywall job I’ve ever seen. Likely, a DIY job. I don’t think the people who did it had ever heard of putty, trowels, or other smoothing tools. It had sooooo many dents and dings that I thought I’d never get them all filled. I actually didn’t because after I painted, I still found areas that I had to go back and fill, sand and repaint. But it was still a huge improvement 100.

Here’s some photos of all the filler I applied during the first round. Eek

Once I had filled what felt like 9,749,682 holes and dings in the walls, I sanded them down smooth and got ready for some new wall color. The owner chose a paint color called Drift of Mist by Sherwin Williams for all the walls. The trim work was done in Extra White, also by Sherwin Williams. At first, I didn’t think I would like the wall color as it looked very dingy when it was wet. However, after drying, it was a beautiful, neutral greigey beige. Is that a word? I’m making it one if not. Below is a photo of the color swatches. Keep in mind graphics look different on all devices.

To apply the paint, we used a roller with Wooster Pro Shed-Resistant Knit rollers in 1/2″ nap. For the trim work, we used a Wooster Pro Nylon/Polyester 2 1/2″ angled wall and trim brush. This brush was amazing and allowed me to get clean lines where the trim met the wall and the wall met the ceiling. Invest in good brushes, you’ll thank me later.

Check out this video where I show you how to get clean lines with the Wooster Pro Angled Trim brush. https://youtu.be/9J9zSAGv4c8

Here’s a look at the afters on this bathroom makeover.

Thanks for visiting and happy painting and diy’ing!
