French Country Makeover With Dixie Belle’s New Silk All In One Paint

This French Provincial chest of drawers was given a French Country style makeover using Dixie Belle’s new All In One Silk Mineral Paint. Haven’t heard of it yet? Well let me tell you a little about it. It’s the newest line of paint put out by the company and it’s designed to make your life easier. “How?” you say. Well for starters it will save you time because it requires no primer and has a built in stain blocker so no need to break out the shellac on those old pieces that bleed tannins. The paint is self-leveling and gives a beautiful low luster finish that dries to a true matte finish. It has great durability and is in fact a washable finish once cured (cure time 21-30 days). It’s also water, mildew and grease resistant so it’s great for those makeovers you want to do for your kitchen, dining room and bathroom. The best part, it doesn’t require a topcoat, thus, saving you even more time and truly making it an “all in one” paint.
How to use it:
- Start by giving your piece a light scuff sanding to remove any oils and build up, level out any minor scratches and give your paint something to hold onto.
- Second, clean your piece using your favorite cleaner. We recommend Dixie Belle’s White Lightening. Rinse well after cleaning to remove any residue.
- For slick, shiny surfaces like lacquer, laminate, or plastic, consider priming with Slick Stick first to ensure good adhesion.
- Apply 2 coats of paint with a dry brush. I recommend the 1″ synthetic brush from Dixie Belle.
