Silk Screen Stencils From Dixie Belle

Have you heard the news? Dixie Belle came out with a new line of painting accessories called Belles and Whistles that includes stencils, silk screen stencils, transfers, and tissue paper. Some of these great new products have just been released and are available for purchase by the public. The others will be available in April of 2021. I’ve been lucky enough to have tried the new silk screen stencils and love the concept. Using vinyl stencils to decorate my furniture is no new idea to me. I’ve been doing it for 2 years using my commercial vinyl cutter and one time use stencils. Now… with Dixie Belle’s new silk screen stencils, I can use them up to 10 times so I get more for my money and help save on waste! Win. Win.

I recently did a French Country style makeover on a French Provincial chest of drawers and used the new Mandala stencil to decorate the sides of the drawers for a sweet peekaboo effect. Check it out!

The stencils are made with a screen (thus the name) in the vinyl cut out portion where the paint is applied. This helps the stencil hold it’s shape and last longer for repeat usage.
To use the new silk screen stencils, simply peel the white backing off the stencil and apply it to the area you wish to stencil. Having a smooth, clean surface is important for clean lines as well as longevity of your stencil (so it doesn’t lose it’s stickiness too soon). Once you’ve laid the stencil down, apply pain in the negative space of the stencil over the screen. Apply with a stencil brush or sponge and avoid pressing too hard to prevent runs. Simply lift up your stencil once you’ve finished applying the paint. Wash your stencil as soon as you’ve finished to prevent the paint from drying on it. Simply wash with soap and water. Once clean, lay your stencil out on a paper towel, sticky side up, for drying. Now you’re ready to use it again on another project.
